But time is not stop for us, it is continue be ahead, so we should walk with time. Just forget about yesterday and think about your new started year. Celebrate your every day like a new year day. Eating out is one of those few recreational activities that suit each and every occasion, no wonder that restaurant is one of the most commonly-used places for people who are looking to hangout with their friends or family. However, choosing the right restaurant is not that easy. Many a times, people are not aware of some very good food places in their own cities, especially the visitors or tourists. I’m sentimental about food, so i want to suggest few best dining places in Mumbai that will be good enough to enjoy your lunch and dinner.
On one of my ‘Explore the city’s by-lane’ trips I found this place Grain & Bagel. Located right behind the huge Infinity mall Grain & Bagel is one of the only Bagel places around that area. Sure you have Bagelwala and The Bagel Shop in Bandra but if you wish to enjoy Bagel in Malad, this is your place. Plus you save the travel time and money. But the bigger question is, is it worth it? Because going to Bandra for a Bagel at Bagelwala sound just alright to me. Read on to find out.
The restaurant to tell you is HUGE. It has a spacious out side seating area and a glass facade to the inside seating. If you go there during the day, there will be a lot of Vitamin D that you can enjoy with your food. The wooden interiors also add up to the decor. But the first thing that you notice when you enter the restaurant is the blackboard wall that has the menu written over it. And book worm in me jumped to see newspapers and magazines right next to the cash counter.
So the idea is to make your own bagel, pay for it while you pick up a good read and hit the table to enjoy the bagel.
I tried their signature bagel sandwich fluffy scrambled eggs with chicken and cheddar in a grilled signature bagel (Rs. 200). The bagel was filling and fresh. Tasted just perfect but was served with a confused mix between coleslaw and salad. But why was it that is what I wonder! It was just finely chopped veggies with pepper and salt dressing.
My friend had Philadelphia Cream Cheese, SoBo Cheese Chilly, Blanched Tomato & emmental Spreangel (Rs. 85). The spread was yummy. So a warm cup of coffee with it would have been just right.
The coolers that we had were a disappointment. I asked for a Chocolate Smoothie infused with Peanut Butter and Soy Protein (Rs.175). It is said that it is tough to find a girl who does not like chocolate, But this smoothie just made me sad. It was watery and not even as cold as it is expected to be. I had to ask for ice cubes to top my drink up. And because wasting food would have been criminal I downed the glass in one go.
But the drink my friend ordered was very refreshing. While I kept twisting nose to the chocolate soy milk that I ask for, he nicely sipped on chilled glass of Lemongrass & Basil Lemonade. If I had the recipe I would make it everyday post work. It is something that would make your soul happy!
And then came the bummer for the evening. The free cupcake that I earned (Thanks to the foursquare newbie check-in) was disappointment. To a level that if it wasn’t for free I would have actually fought with the management for serving me that piece of rock. I could pull off the icing over the cupcake with my hand without even getting them stained. Both the icing and cupcake were so hard that I could not break it with a steel spoon easily. And thanks to that one piece of cake I refused to let my mouth touch any other dessert on the menu.
All said and done, I leave it to the bad food day. I give points to the Bagels. At least they are doing justice to what their name says. Apart from the bagels they also serve pastas and pizzas. It is an all day breakfast place. And with the ambience I’m sure it would be fun to binge on an English Breakfast some day.
Chef in you: Grain and Bagel has a counter where you could make your own bagel. So pick the plate, pick the bagel and add whatever you feel like. And pay for it. Sounds right to me! So I’ll try. My next visit will be for breakfast. Will definitely share how it was…
